THE MINIMUM WAGES ACT, 1948

The Act prescribes the minimum rate of wages payable to employees for different scheduled employments for different class of work and for adults, adolescents, children , and apprentices depending upon different localities

Penalities
a) Under Sec 22(a)(b) if any employer:- Pays less than minimum rate of wages or fails to pay the wages within the time prescribed Imprisonment Upto six Months or fine upto Rs. 500/-

b) Under Sec 22-1-A Whoever Wilfully obstructs an inspector in exercise of his power or fails to produce registers records or documents Fine upto Rs. 500/-

c) Under Sec 22-A Any Employer :- Contravens any provision or rule for which no penalty is provided Fine upto Rs. 500/-
