THE EMPLOYEES' PROVIDENT FUNDS AND MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS ACT, 1952

CONTRIBUTION
PF is deducted on Basic wages of an employee per month.
  • Employee contributes 12% of their basic salary per month .
  • Company contributes equal amount I.e. 12% + 1.61% admin charges.
    There are Three aspects in PF act, Viz:- PF, Pension, Employees Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI).
    • Employee contributes 12% of their basic salary per month to the PF A/c .
    • Company contributes equal amount I.e. 12% + 1.61% admin charges. The breakup is as follows :
    • 8.33% in Pension Fund i.e. A/c X.
    • Balance 3.67% (12.00 – 8.33) in PF i.e. A/c I .
    • 1.10% in A/c II as Admin charges .
    • 0.50% in A/c XXI as EDLI contribution .
    • 0.01% in A/c XXII as Admin for EDLI.


    • Note: Where the employer undertakes a scheme under LIC equivalent to EDLI, then the employer has to get approval from PF authorities.After getting the approval, it can stop contributing to A/c XXI and A/c XXII .
