CONTRACT LABOUR ACT, 1970

Compliance
The contractor is required to pay wages and a duty is cast on him to ensure disbursement of wages in the presence of the authorised representative of the Principal Employer. In case of failure on the part of the contractor to pay wages either in part or in full, the Principal Employer is liable to pay the same. The contract labour who performs same or similar kind of work as regular workmen, will be entitled to the same wages and service conditions as regular workmen as per the Act or Minimum Wages of the scheduled industry is to be provided.

The Following are the records to be maintained by the Principal Employer:
Form I - Application for Registration by the Principal Employer üForm V - Certificate to be issued to the contractor for obtaining license

Form VIII - Register of Contractors. üForm XXI - Annual Return to be filed with ACL The Following are the records to be maintained by the Contractor: üForm IV - Application for License

Form VII - Application for renewal of license to be submitted by 31st October

Form IX - Register of Workmen of the Contractor

Form X - Identity Employment Card üForm XI - Service Certificate

Form XII & XIII - Muster roll and Wage Register

Form XV - Individual Wage Slip üForm XVI & XVII - Register of damages, Fines, Advances and Overtime

Form XX - Annual Return to be filed with ACL

Notice showing wages , Hours at work , rest interval, date of payment, etc. to be displayed.

The Contractor has to provide canteen facility, rest room, drinking water, toilets, washing facilities, First Aid facilities, etc.
